SUBIC BAY – The most awaited basketball league in Zambales, the Subic Bay League (SBL), is back and it welcomes PBA MVP Willie Miller as tournament commissioner.
League commissioner Marvin Pacamparra said SBL, as the most anticipated basketball league in the City of Olongapo and in Zambales province, will have a 25 year old below tournament for this 5th season that started September.
Adding spice to the game is the addition of Miller, a 4-time PBA champion, 2-time PBA MVP and proud ‘batang Gapo’,as the commissioner for the Mayor’s Cup tourney.
The league is also backed up by fight analyst, sports writer and former MMA fighter Del Bacho, and David Bayarong, Olongapo City sports manager.
SBL has become the benchmark of basketball league in the city and has been known for its high standard tournament rules, from uniforms to officiating.
For its 5th season, SBL was opened to teams of home-grown talents from Olongapo and from Zambales and Bataan provinces. Guest teams must have two local players. Multiple imports were permitted in the roster but only two are allowed on the court at the same time.
SBL was founded in 2014 with the initiative of league founders Pacamparra and Ameer Cabahug.
